Not much was revealed when CI Games (City Interactive) first announced "hardcore RPG" Lords of the Fallen beyond the name of its protagonist, Harkyn. That seems to be intentional, as Harkyn will play such an integral role in the game. Who is Harkyn? CI Games states that only the player will be able to answer this question, as he will be heavily customized and his story uniquely developed based off of the player's decisions.
CI Games' Excecutive Producer on Lords of the Fallen Thomasz Gop describes Harkyn:
"Harkyn is not your ordinary hero. Our team is committed to creating a distinct character and a gameplay experience unique to every player, as well as a deep, secretive history that players will be rewarded for upon discovering. We’re excited to show Lords of the Fallen , our main character, Harkyn, and the advanced combat mechanics for the first time at E3 next week."
Who is Harkyn? Will he be a Geralt, a Commander Shepard, or perhaps a nameless hero more akin to Dragon Age or Skyrim's create-a-character systems? So far CI Games seems to imply the former, the pre-built hero that you ultimately mold in your own way, but it will be interesting nonetheless to see how Lords of the Fallen does this as opposed to other games.
Perhaps we'll find out sooner than expected, as Lords of the Fallen will be revealed in a live gameplay demo during E3. Look forward to more information on Lords of the Fallen, coming to Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, next week.
Update: Quick note, Lords of the Fallen is being developed by Deck13 Interactive and could be the previously teased "Project RPG". Project RPG was rumored to be about a land where the world is split into two sides, seperated by the corpse of a god that died 1000 years prior. Interesting, no?
