There are few games as hugely anticipated as The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the conclusion of the trilogy. CD Projekt RED is going all out on it, with Geralt's adventure taking 50 hours for the main story alone. The massive open world is about 20% larger than The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and 30 times that of The Witcher 2. It's been a while since we've seen anything of that world though, until today when some scans from the latest Edge magazine found their way online.
The quality may not be the highest ever, but nonetheless the world of The Witcher 3 is presented in a little more detail. Geralt of Rivia is front and center in the majority of the screenshots, and he looks to be sporting the same armor seen in the last round of screenshots. We get a good look at a stunning vista, a small village, and perhaps that same village again just a little more on fire. Then there's the shots of the monsters.
Wolves are a staple of many games and there's nothing too out of the ordinary with those critters in The Witcher 3. Another shot looks to show several of the harpies seen in The Witcher 2, which can be a pain if you're not prepared for them. It's the final shot with a monster that is the most intriguing, as it appears to show a large, four-legged reindeer/lion/boar type of thing. Geralt looks ready to stab its face off if he can get close enough, and it's highly possible that won't be the only encounter with whatever it is.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is due next year for the PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Just try not to go too crazy waiting for it.
