Today Konami had the opporunity to jump ahead of the competion and show their games without the cloud of next-gen over them. They took that opportunity by the wrist with their showcase of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 and its E3 trailer shown below. Dracula will be returning after a very long slumber and he'll be very thirsty. He also apparently has a lot of emotional baggage.
I walked away from watching this trailer with two big notes. One, that this trailer is a huge love letter to fans of the first game and the franchise in general. There's faces of characters we long since though gone -- hey is that Alucard? It's Alucard everyone! Second, the production values for Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 have gone through the roof. While it's doubtful anything shown is gameplay, the cinematic quality is gorgeous and the voice work plus soundtrack? I was practically crying and I didn't even know why.
Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 is planned for release on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC later this year. Odds are it's going to be worth picking up the original game and maybe even Mirror of Fate for the 3DS for the full effect of this sequel.
