Come on, now. You know what I want. Now give it to me Mr. Kojima and we can stay friends.

I'll even give you piggy-back rides and make you strawberry smoothies like the good ol' days.

It is obvious now that Kojima is trolling us.

David Hayter will be the voice of Snake for sure.

I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that it'll be someone new and we unfortunately won't have Hayter returning. I think Hayter's suspicious tweet is just him being a good sport and helping rouse the community to look forward to this event. However, even so, thinking about it, come the reveal and it isn't Hayter, I can imagine nothing less than a crucifixion of the VA. In hindsight, if Kojima had been straight up about this and mentioned it before all that release footage and didn't mention Hayter's dismissal as a 'to-the-side' interview respond, this would be taken in much better circumstance.

David Hayter's voice has always been synonymous with the MGS franchise...pulling him out of the sequel needs a ball to do, so as to replace him with someone who has a ball in voice acting as well...Kojima knows what he's doing, I hope!! Otherwise.........

Just to let you guys know...i seen a video on youtube done by gamespot at GDC this year...it was a live action demo of the phantom pain...the one where big boss wakes up in hospital and crawls along the floor...well when the demo starts big boss is lying on his back in a first-person view cutscene and that guy with the bandaged face is looking out a window and then turns to boss and kneels down beside him...Big boss then speaks and says ``what happened to the woman?``.....Now if i'm correct i think the person who is voicing big boss in mgs5 is Kiefer Sutherland(star of 24) and if its not him then they have someone who sounds EXACTLY like him...but there is a problem...the man with the bandaged face(who's name is ishmael by the way) sounds EXACTLY the same as well...NO difference...so will Akio Atsuka be voicing Big Boss AND ishmael aswell in the japanese version? and how come Akio Atsuka is being kept and David Hayter let go? You don't ``Reinvent``a game series by getting rid of the star voice actor! I just don't get it! And for those people that say ``this isn't snake it's big boss`` David Hayter voiced big boss in mgs3,portable ops and peace walker! peace walker being set just before mgs5!...so how can his voice change? Anyway i will still get mgs5 when it comes out but if David Hayter is not in it then it will severely degrade the experience for me and a lot of other people i'm sure.

I predict Big Boss will be played by Richard Doyle, like he was in MGS4. Big Boss will be 50 when he wakes up from his coma in 1984.

1972 - Les Enfants Terribles Project
1974 - Peace Walker Incident
1974 or 1975ish - Ground Zeroes
9 years coma
1983 or 1984 - The Phantom Pain

He has to change his voice at some point, so why not at a time when his dreams are destroyed (cue trailer scene of Boss's reaction of the burning MSF Mother Base) and he shifts to the "villain" that we see in Metal Gear 1.

I've seen some theorize Hayter is benched from Big Boss in order to play Solid Snake, but remember he's barely a teenager during the events shown in the trailers. He could possibly play Solid in the later years that may happen in the game as the trailer also shows a future in which Big Boss has recovered from the hospital escape and has a new group (Diamond Dogs).

Omg I just thought of something. You know how they're working on a MGS movie right? What if the actor who was choses to play the role of Snake also does the voice in this game?

I've heard the "his voice will change because of the coma" theory, but I have two problems with it.

1. Your voice may change after a long coma, but I don't think you'd sound like an entirely different person.

2. What about before the coma? Is Big Boss really not going to say a single word throughout the entire assault on Mother Base, which is presumably what leads to him being put in a coma? Who would voice him for that sequence?

I'm not saying it isn't a possibility but I just think it's somewhat far-fetched, and not in a hey-it's-a-video-game-it-doesn't-have-to-make-sense kind of way, but more of a omg-this-is-a-really-strange-plot-point-and-it's-sort-of-ruining-the-immersion-and-general-atmosphere-of-the-experience sort of feeling.

In other words, I think whoever voices Big Boss will voice him for the entirety of the game(s). I think the coma will have nothing to do with whether the voice actor has changed or not.

a new voice actor there may be but if David has already done a piece of the voice acting for the initial assault on mother base before he coma it isn't too bad so long as it doesn't go blacklist on the voice actor which was a quite drastic change of voice actor for poor Sam. it is probably going to be fine because Kojima knows what hes doing. maybe

Yeah, I was heartbroken when the news came out that Hayter likely won't take part in MGSV/Phantom Pain/Ground Zeroes, but I'm not all that worried anymore. I mean, for my taste, every single MGS title has been as close to perfect as I could possibly ask for. I think Kojima/KojiPro know what they're doing here.

Hell, even if this somehow turns out to be a mess then the worst case scenario for me is a Metal Gear game I don't absolutely love. I think I can allow them one of those in a 20+ year span.

EDIT: Of course, David Hayter is always the preferred choice for my auditory enjoyment when it comes to snakes of the solid and naked variety, but... I'll just wait and see how this turns out.

I don't know how this would even make sense considering what we've seen so far in the trailers, but if they're having a conference for this, I feel like the voice actor will walk out onto the conference stage, wearing bandages on his face. Then he'll slowly remove them to reveal himself. If this is the case, then the voice actor must be a big name of some sort otherwise it would feel a bit anti-climactic.

Also, if the voice actor is Hayter, him coming there with bandages covering his face would be a good way to avoid being noticed beforehand.

Another idea I have is, a lot of people think that Kiefer Sutherland's character is a figment of BB's imagination which I think would, in a sense, make him BB. Perhaps the VO will be revealed to be Sutherland, then they'll cut to parts of trailers we've seen already but with him speaking BB's parts and no bandaged man or something like that.

Of course, I'm probably totally wrong and they could just play a trailer and have only the new voice itself revealed when Big Boss says, "kept you waiting, huh?"

I just can't help but speculate my brains out over this whole thing.

I'll still buy the game, with or without Hayter. Kojima has written and directed all of these games we have loved so much, if it's his decision that it's time for a new voice actor for Boss then why should I doubt his creative integrity? He's forged many of my favourite games over the years, all of them with the Metal Gear name, don't see why I shouldn't continue to have faith in Kojima's game creating skills!
