Yeah I doubt it's DmC 2. Didn't they fail to meet the price expectations had to lower the expectations three times. :/
Also isn't the Heavenly Sword IP owned by Sony? I'd would have expected Sony to announce it if it was a new game.
I hope it's a new IP though, I didn't like Heavenly Sword and DmC was 'meh' compared to the other DMC games(better than 1 and 2).

I HIGHLY doubt it would be DmC 2 mainly because well...outside of it's glaring flaws(understatement) as a game, it's horrid PR, how it flopped but probably because of *ahem* "Decline in quality due to excessive outsourcing".

Slash Yup! Good points all around. DMC sales goal was 2 million in fiscal year 2012, but they only hit 1.2 million. Sony would certainly want to announce an exclusive like Heavenly Sword on their own. Of course, there's no promise that Ninja Theory will announce anything tomorrow... could just be a tease.

I want to believe it's something new for them too, and hopefully despite DMC's err... for lack of a better descriptor... failure, they've now got the money to do something they really want.

That said, I would not be surprised if Capcom let them reboot DMC that they'd have a multi-game contract of some sort. That's not the sort of franchise experience you can just let walk away.

largerock Wasn't that outsourcing statement about some other games? I want to say there was something specifically stated that excluded DmC from that list. Either way, I definitely wouldn't say the game had glaring flaws or horrid PR. I feel like it was advertised as well as any installment in the series, and I personally loved it.

I'm pretty excited to see what's coming because I've been a fan of all their games up to now. My money's on either a DmC 2 or a new IP. I'm leaning toward a new IP, just because we haven't seen a direct sequel from Ninja Theory yet and it feels a bit soon for a new DmC. Whatever it is, my curiosity is piqued!

It kinda did flop hard. Only after 3 months did it finally reach a goal target that's been revised 3-4 times (I have bad memory). It not making good money means shot down for future sequels.

"DmC Kart Racing" 10/10 would play.

I don't mind the DMC reboot, but I don't want a sequel to it solely because that probably rules out DMC5, at least for some time.

I just don't see two series loosely based on the same concept being able to co-exist and if I had to pick one or the other there's no way in hell am I picking the reboot.

Also, I'd very much like it if they bought Reuben Langdon back.

It wasn't as good as the originals.

NT did so bad with DmC that the were reduced to doing mobile games haha

DMC kart racing was silently cancelled because Ninja Theory was inept at 60 FPS.

Slash As a fan of the originals, I actually much prefer the new DmC. It was much more grounded in reality, and it was a lot more relatable (for me, at least). And plenty of reputable developers have made mobile games. I'm a little bummed this wasn't a full-blown classic console NT game, but I'm interested.

Sit down on my lap child,

*ahem*

Old fans were insulted by tam tam.

There are such DRASTIC changes in character for everybody and in a bad way.
The gameplay is SEVERELY dumbed down from what the originals were.
Locking out a staple from old games only to be downloaded as DLC.
Tammy saying that he will write a story that will, and I quote: "Rival the best that film and literature have to offer."

There are more that I'm forgetting but for now let's just leave these.

Now the glaring flaws

HORRIDLY easy and broken gameplay.
IMMENSE amount of glitches.
HORRIBLE dialogue. Too many moments of it to mention.
There are weapons that are underpowered and some that are TOO overpowered.
The story is...dear lord so BAD.
The worst boss fights I have ever seen.
Braindead and uninspired enemies. .
The "tasteful" sex scene is...oh god...*cries and barfs*
Color-coded enemies that limits your freedom in combat.

Again, there's most likely more that I'm forgetting.

ooookayyyyy...

first,im not a child im in my early 20's
second, asking me to sit on your lap is frankly *bleep*ed up
third,dont lecture me on the dmc series(i have dmc1-2-3&and dmc--dont have 4)

my argument is basically a complete opposite of yours...except the staple thing...yes the iconic costume should have been in it since launch but thats the kind of dirty business practices our devs and publishers are into and sadly its rampant throughout the industry...just look at the metro:LL ranger mode scandal.

*sneezes, farts and takes a hit from the bong*

BRILLIANTLY simple yet fun gameplay.
TINY amount of glitches(on the pc anyway)
GOOD dialogue. Too many moments of it to mention.(unlike dmc3)
There are weapons that are AWESOME and some that are TOO AWESOME
The story is...dear lord so RELEVANT(check out nwo)
some of the best boss fights I have ever seen
ENGAGING and TOUGH enemies.
The "tasteful" sex scene is good demon porn.
Color-coded enemies that limits your freedom in combat.(especially if you are colour-blind)

and of course the music was good too.

*takes yet more hits from the bong and starts seeing donkeys*
