Techland today announced Dying Light, a new survival horror shooter published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Talk about good timing. Remember our little chat about how unscary mainstream horror games are these days? That was just a few weeks ago.
Okay, so we don't know enough about this new IP to guarantee how scary or good it'll be, but the screenshots are worth a look. Set for release in 2014 for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC, Dying Light transports players to an urban setting "overrun by a vicious outbreak," and you'll need to scavenge for supplies and craft weapons to defend yourself against a growing population of rabid infected. When the sun goes down, things just get worse, too. Definitely sounds more like a survival game than Techland's other zombie game (a rather successful one, mind you) Dead Island.
Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka remarked:
"The next-gen technology allows us to create a truly dynamic open world that features a game-changing day-night cycle. Inventive free running mechanics also allow for nearly unrestricted exploration and weapon-crafting to further enhance the action survival experience."
So what do you guys think? Are the pictures scary enough?
