Morning everyone! I'm a bit late here, but I wanted to throw up a post for everyone watching the Nintendo Direct livestream (watch here).
7:29 - That's it!
7:27 - Reggie wants to talk about E3. This year it's, "all about the games." This year Nintendo is making E3 for the people and wants to make sure everyone can try the games too. Partnering with Best Buy to try games at more than 100 retail games.
7:27 - Pikmin 3 launches August 4.
7:21 - Alph, Charlie and Brittany are replacing Olimar as the main character in Pikmin 3. Their planet is dying, so they travel in search of food. They discover Pikmin, who help them to explore and discover fruit. The fruit is much larger than they expected, so the Pikmin help bring it back to the spaceship. The spaceship extracts the seeds and makes juice. Each day you have to send out juice, so there seems to be a sort of time limit! Ack.
It actually seems a lot like Little King's Story.
In Pikmin 3 the GamePad becomes the KopPad which is a handy overhead map. As the player explores the fog of war is pushed back, allowing the player to look over the overworld map at any time. It's actually sort of a strategy game what with the three main characters. Multiple control methods. GamePad, Pro Controller, or also the Wii Motion Controller with Motion Plus and Nunchuck. Of course, it can be played just on the GamePad itself.
7:20 - The Wonderful 101 will launch September 15. Was supposed to launch before the end of March...
7:16 - New Super Luigi U details! The New Super Mario Bros. U DLC. Filling in the fourth multiplayer spot, replacing Mario, is Nabbit. He has same speed and jump, but can't power up. Instead, he won't take damage when he touches enemies. What? He joins Luigi and Yellow Toad and Blue Toad. Available on the eShop on June 20. 82 updated courses! Special standalone version also available. August 25. eShop version = $19.99, packaged = $29.99. It's a Layton style math puzzle.
7:14 - Iwata take the mic again to talk about Resident Evil Revelations. Hank and Rachel coming to Raid mode. New controls using the GamePad. TV as main screen, GamePad displays the map and items. Or play the full game on the GamePad, or play with the Wii U Pro Controller. Available May 21 via retail or eShop.
7:11 - Game and Wario coming soon. Island is a mini-game playable by 5 people. Take turns using the GamePad to slingshot "Franks" onto an island to score points. It's like throwing beanbags. Ninja Twins Cat and Anna will be in a game called Patchwork to place overlapping large puzzle pieces. Kung Fu is a motion controlled spit perspective, auto jump platformer. GamePad offers a top-down perspective, TV offers a third person. June 23 for $39.99.
7:10 - Animal Crossing: New Leaf launching on June 9. Hardware based friend codes, not software, allow friends to play together. StreetPass and SwapNote junk for New Leaf.
7:09 - Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D will feature 8 new levels for players to unlock. Each of the new 8 levels in Cloud Gateway are based on the original levels in the game. They introduce new mechanics, launches on May 24.
7:08 - Some talk about Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move and how players can create their own puzzles. Anyone pick this up? We've been super busy this week, so I never got around to it.
7:07 - The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages and Oracle of Seasons to be made available on May 30 for $5.99 via the eShop. For the first three weeks, they'll only be $4.99.
7:05 - Nintendo enters into worldwide partnership with Sega. Sonic: Lost World coming to Wii U and 3DS! Wow! Also, Sega Game Gear titles coming to Virtual Console! Sonic the Hedgehog, Shinobi and Dragon Crystal already available.
