Hey, do you like hardcore action RPGs, perhaps akin to The Witcher 2? Then get excited for City Interactive's newly unveiled game Lords of the Fallen, coming to next-gen consoles and PC in 2014. While development hasn't exactly been a secret, previously known as "Project RPG," this is the first time CI Games is actively talking about the game.
City Interactive Executive Producer Tomasz Gop pitched his game thusly:
"Our team is building Lords of the Fallen specifically for players who enjoy taking on huge challenges, where the odds are stacked against them. From the very beginning, Lords of the Fallen will intrigue and satisfy players’ hunger to explore each corner of a brand new world, freely customize and build their own character and take down some of the most epic enemies ever seen."
"Gods have failed mankind," and so we take up the mantle of protagonist Harkyn as he faces off against what's described as an unstoppable supernatural force. Explore a world of divided factions, split into those who follow and those who resist the Fallen God. Ominous name, right? CI says their game will have several significant decisions that will impact the storyline.
Considering Tomasz Gop was also the executive producer for The Witcher 2 I'd say that's an apt comparison for Lords of the Fallen. Let's be honest though, that's a lofty goal. Let's all hope CI Games can pull together to make something on that sort of scale.
Expect more news on Lords of the Fallen soon, as the game will be presented live at E3 starting June 11. I'll personally set aside some time to try out a playable version of Lords of the Fallen.
