"Xbox owners will be able to buy currency to purchase content." So we use money to buy money to buy xbox stuff?........

Thats certainly a weird way to word it, huh?
I guess technically purchasing a gift card could be considered buying money, even though all your really doing is converting/transfering it.

I'm glad their getting rid of the points system though, I don't mind using gift cards to transfer funds too much but dealing with point currencies that only apply to one particular service is annoying. A universal currency just makes sense in this day and age.

I always hated buying things with points and having to buy the 1600 pt pack for something that was like 1350 or something. They'll probably manage to make a system like that even with this new thing.

But it sounds like you can just buy things directly now, though, which is certainly a lot better.

I've never used nor wanted to pay for Microsoft points, it would be awesome if they just scrapped the idea completely.

I don't know why everyone is rejoicing. This means no more free points/cheap points on sale. If you where persistent you could get a lot of points (I got both borderlands 2 dlc for free because of the points I saved up from Bing)

I'm willing to bet that 360 will continue MS points for the remainder of its life but the next Xbox will debut the new system. Everything in the Marketplace that will be available to purchase on the new console (if any) will be given an additional equivalent money value.

Good. It's easier and makes much more sense to use real world currency. I hate having a few useless points left over on my account from a previous purchase. The amount of times that I've needed to add more points to my account just to buy something only to have some still left over.

I don't know what was so hard about using a system like Steam Wallet or PSN...

I'm just waiting for the new console reveal. I don't like this choice though.

I like the MS Points format, I imagined that I was paying less.

Being a late Xbox 360 player in its lifespan, my MS points are around 700, So I don't mind if the new console ditched that stuffs!!!

Dude, spend them fast then! They didn't say if they were converting the points to money or not (I assume they will), but they might make points worth way less in cash, so you'd lose some money.
