Ubisoft is kicking 2013 off with a profitable 12 months, and the publisher credits its financial success to some major blockbusters from 2012, including Far Cry 3. According to Ubi, this open world shooter raked in six million units last year across retail and digital platforms. That's a good 1.5 million higher than the initial report in February 2013.
Far Cry 3 certainly isn't the only Ubisoft game to sell millions. Assassin's Creed III remains in the lead with a good 12.5 million retail/digital sales, which is just over the 12 million reported in February. Just Dance 4, while catering to a different market, earned a good 8.5 million sales.
Compared to those, it looks like Far Cry 3 has a lot of catching up to do. Today, Ubisoft released details regarding the company's performance for the first fiscal year of 2013, which ended just before April. Overall, Ubi is doing incredibly well, reporting a rise in year-on-year revenue and profits.
