It's not in 3D.

The 3DS version is still definitive.

After playing the demo, I found my self falling for a few jump scares given I already knew about the creatures in the game. I have been a relentless Resident Evil fan since I was 5, so when people ask if this game is going to be "scary" I assume they are asking if it will be like the old games. The answer is no it isn't like the old games, the old games allow for back tracking and room to even get lost and confused which adds to the horror aspect of the series. Unfortunately the games haven't been that way since Code Veronica, though I do love Resident Evil 4 regardless.

The game stars Resident Evils 2 main protagonists, Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield, which already destines the game to be awesome(Jill is my personal favorite, however I am not a fan of her new, pouty "Lara Croft" plastic surgery face). One downside is that for the most part the game only has one kind of enemy aside from bosses, luckily the enemies are disgusting and creepy,(in my opinion) resembling the regenerators in RE4 in a way.

My bottom line is that I don't think this game will disappoint in any way, but it might not sweep anyone off their feet either. Like I mentioned previously, I am a fanatic, so I will play Resident Evil no matter what happens. The storyline has so much potential that isn't being brought into the newer games, hopefully this game will open the developers eyes to see what really makes Resident Evil fans happy, and that is a connection to the characters, a lonely and dark atmosphere, and a psychopath antogonist that we can't help to get attached to in some hopeless way(or not).

Chris Redfield wasn't awesome enough to be put into the demo
I'll check this out sometime.

So, someone please tell me this is more scarier and atmospheric than RE5 and 6, which were as scary as a box of kittens.
I'd say it's a bit scarier than RE 6 and RE 5, but it's no where near as scary as RE 2 or Code Veronica X which is the last scariest game in the Saga, RE is moving towards action and mystery rather than scary stuffs.

P.S. I'm now replaying it again on 3DS XL with Extra large dual thumbstick: circle pad
