Completely agree with you Rory. I thought the exact same thing "Movement? Boooooooooooooring" , but they somehow managed to make movement entertaining! Definitely keeping an eye on this one, the game looks like good fun. It's an MMORPG that doesn't take itself too seriously.

They did another video about player housing. It's equally as entertaining, and I'm really quite surprised at how much they've put in to their housing features.

There's a couple things that they're doing that I disagree with. The whole concpet of "there's only one resource node for everyone; first come first serve" is waaaay too old school. Everyone should have their own resource nodes to mine, the same way that loot drops should all be per user, not shared.

BUT, I love the art design and would like to try the game myself.

tekmosis Ew. I dislike that style of MMO design. I like my MMOs to be social in every regard. I dislike the way MMOs have evolved to become almost single player experiences in a social environment.

Not everything has to be singleplayer-esq but I think that "first come first served" style of resource nodes is antiquated, and it causes negative social aspects. If you're running towards a node, and someone else gets there first, you're like "screw you, that was mine!".

tekmosis For sure, it's kind of a silly system. I definitely agree there should be something better. I think I still prefer it and its reinforcement of negative interaction over the "nodes for everyone!" style.

I always hated having a gold farmer beat me to a node in Lord of the Rings (and a bunch of other MMOs), but when you take even that away... it's just boring an monotonous. I'd rather any sort of interaction rather than monotony.

The preferable system, of course, is revamping it entirely, but since when do MMOs innovate?

tekmosis Hahah. Gotta love how mining nodes in Guild Wars 2 has just become a rotating map of set points that everyone farms on a daily bases. Well, everyone that cares enough to do it. Basically a "Waste 15-30 minutes for gold!" mechanic.
