Square Enix has shared screenshots of Final Fantasy X's HD remaster already, but today will be our first look at Final Fantasy X-2's HD update. Yes, now Yuna, Rikku and Paine have updated with fancy high-resolution textures. In addition, Square Enix asks you to look closely at each of the main characters' faces, which have apparently received model upgrades to provide more facial expressions.
I'm in the minority here, but coming from the PlayStation generation of Final Fantasy VII through IX, I wasn't a very big fan of Final Fantasy X and passed by the sequel entirely. A large part of that was my uncomfortableness with the uncanny valley I felt the graphics had dove into. At least with previous Final Fantasys the blocky graphics left room for the imagination. With this HD update, however, I'm rather ecstatic to revisit the games. It'll be like an entirely new Final Fantasy.
Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster will be available on PlayStation 3, where the Vita versions will be made available as individual games rather than as a packaged product. Both will be available later this year.
