In a not quite particularly surprising decision, the powers that be behind the EVO Championship Series 2013 have decided to add Injustice: Gods Among Us to the list of official tournaments at the event. This brings the number of official games supported at the event to nine, though there's also a number of side-tournaments with prize-pots of thousands of dollars. EVO 2013 runs from July 12 through the 14.
It was only days after EVO announced the original 8 tournaments they would host that a post on Twitter asked fans whether they'd be okay with perhaps 9. Most fans at the time were still reeling at the fact Injustice wasn't included from the start, so of course they were supportive of a ninth game. It's taken a bit of time, possibly so tournament organizers could see how Injustice fared after release, but the decision was finally made.
With only three days to get across 9 games, they're really going to have to pack the schedule full. Still, I'd rather be forced to jump across livestreams to find the game I'm really excited about than not see that game at all. It's great to see Injustice: Gods Among Us on the list, keeping EVO fresh and full new life and experimentation.
