Update: Due to roster changes, LGD.cn has had their International invitation revoked. As a result, they will now compete in the East Qualifier while TongFu has taken their place.
Thirteen teams have been invited to Valve's Dota 2 tournament The International. Two of the remaining spots will be decided by two upcoming tournaments appropriately named the East and West Tournaments, which have just had their details finalized. Each tournament will put 8 teams to the test. Only one from each side will make it to The International, the rest go home.
The West tournament will run from May 13 to May 19, East from May 20 to May 26. Here are each qualifier's 8 teams, made up the top Asian, European, and American teams in the world -- beyond those already invited to The International, of coursE:
- First Departure
- Vici Gaming
- Rising Stars
- Absolute Legends
- Evil Geniuses
- Qpad Red Pandas
Each tournament will feature a double-elimination, best of three style of brackets with the finals to be played as a best-of-five (no winner's bracket advantage). And of course, all matches will be livestreamed via their respective host. West will be hosted by GDStudio and East will be hosted by GosuGamers. Of course, they'll also be made available through the Dota 2 client completely free, via DotaTV. The runners up in each qualifier will be able to compete in the final International qualifier tournament leading into the start of the The International.
With that said, tickets for The International 3 will be put on sale starting May 7 at 10:00 AM PDT through the Dota 2 store. All tickets will put on sale at the same time, so make sure to get your schedule set up.
