Following last week's Call of Duty: Ghosts leak, Activision today put up a Call of Duty mystery website, with no subtitle of any sort. As more visitors sign up, however, whether through Facebook or Twitter, we begin to see a slow-forming image of a skull.
While Acti has given no information to go on, all signs are pointing to a possible Call of Duty installment that revolves around Ghost, the incredibly popular character from Modern Warfare 2. Overall, he was a pretty cool guy, and made everyone jealous with his skull-print balaclava. The balaclava quickly became his trademark, making it all the more likely that the skull image on the teaser is a throwback to this recognizable accessory.
For a time, hopeful fans spoke of a possible sequel starring Simon "Ghost" Riley, despite seeing him shot and burnt to a crisp during Modern Warfare 2. While it's unlikely Call of Duty: Ghosts will be a sequel, a prequel of some sort isn't entirely out of the question. They released a graphic novel about his early years, after all, so why not a game?
If you're interested in checking out the site and "participating," all you need to do is hit the "Add Me" button at the top, type in a brief message for Twitter, then attach a profile image either through your Twitter or Facebook account. Your tiny, tiny avatar will then appear in the skull mosaic.
Update (4/30): As of last night (or early this morning), the "Add Me" option was removed from the site. The images is as you see below. Yes, it's a skull, one that bears an amusing resemblance to Darth Nihilus. Stay tuned for more.
