The other day Nintendo announced it wouldn't hold an E3 press conference this year, but are still going to be at the show. That's decidely different from what 2K Games is doing, as it announced it won't be attending E3 2013 at all. Parent company Take-Two Interactive plans to attend, but it'll only be holding its usual business meetings.
Concerning 2K's decision to bypass E3, the developer had the following to say:
At 2K, we’re excited for the new opportunities coming with the next generation of hardware, and are hard at work preparing our announced titles for release. While 2K will not have a booth on the show floor at this year’s E3 conference, we will have a lot of great news coming your way this spring.
That news concerns the likes of Sid Meier's Civilization V: Brave New World, XCOM: Enemy Unknown on iOS, the recently revamped The Bureau: XCOM Declassified, WWE 2K14, NBA 2K14, and more content for Borderlands 2. It's actually a fair amount of stuff that could be shown at E3, but instead we'll have to look forward to reveals and trailers on YouTube or 2K's Twitch channel.
If you're wondering about Rockstar and a certain title called Grand Theft Auto V, Take-Two didn't have anything to say. Rockstar typically doesn't attend E3 regardless of what it's working on, but maybe it'll show up this year to give Take-Two a presence on the showfloor. That's probably just wishful thinking, though.
