With the announcement of the now multi-console release of Rayman Legends being made, that's September 3 if you missed it, Ubisoft has also released a little something special for Wii U owners. When Ubisoft canceled the Wii U version of Rayman Legends' exclusivity, they promised a special demo for the console. Following through, the Rayman Legends Online Challenges App is now available on Wii U -- for free.
The Online Challenges App is a little something special for Wii U users to try out up until the game's full release on September 3. It includes all three of the main demo levels shown of the game so far, including the Black Betty rhythm level that's amazing. In addition, there are weekly and daily challenge levels that work with the Wii U's gamepad. Yes, every day a new challenge.
While I can't comment on the variety or quality of anything beyond the challenge levels currently available, what's there right now is quite fun. Basically, the goal is to get as far into a level as possible, as fast as possible, on levels that challenge you to clear obstacles out of one of Rayman's friends' way. Cutting drops, pulling down doors and moving platforms is the job at hand. It's good fun.
Check out the screenshots and trailer below for a look at the Rayman Legends Online Challenges App. It's not just some silly thing, it's a full blown decent-length demo with updating content daily. It's not Rayman Legends, but it's something.
PS, I just got done with about a half hour of playing the challenge mode and I have some motion sickness -- and I never get motion sickness. You have to play the challenges on the Wii U gamepad, which is really fuzzy and hard to follow when you have to make quick reactions. If this continues I'll have to write something more extensive about it.
