This is a news article on the front page, not just a thread lol.
My oh my, so much has changed here since I was last active.

Also Nintendo Directs will never generate the same amount of hype as announcement in E3 by Nintendo.
Hmmm, some of the more recent Nintendo Directs (the one on January 23rd and April 17th) have hyped me more than the last five Nintendo E3 press conferences combined! Haha.

Yes and you also think the new console reveals aren't a big deal and that NIntendo will win E3 no matter what.
So you represent the .1%

New console reveals? But Sony has already done so, with Micro$oft following in the same path. If that's all they've got to show, stuff they've already said a few months beforehand, E3 would be pretty weak for them

Except not everything was revealed about the PS4 in the conference. The important facotrs such as Price, launch line up,etc.
Even if they only showed the hardware it would still have more hype than NIntendo's conference as they only have games to show.

How did that PS4 reveal go a few weeks ago? Was the internet buzzing because of it? Hype machines blowing up? Nope. Barely even made a splash.

I also never said that Nintendo will win E3 no matter what. How could they win E3 if they don't even have a press conference there? Haha. But trust me, the Nintendo Direct around E3 time will be huge. There's no doubt about that pal.

Er every gaming site had the conference covered and there were ads of the conference all over the place....

Keep telling yourself that pal.
It'll get overshadowed by the E3.

I really wanted an E3 conference, even if they had to face the announcement of 2 new consoles and their games...
I really hope they make more creative things with Direct for make up with forgoing E3...
Maybe make a Nintendo Direct app for Wii U/3DS that makes anyone try out a demo for a newly announced game?

I seem to recall the Pre-E3 Nintendo Direct last year having quite a bit of hype and being far better received than the snoozer of a conference as well.

This.

Plus the amount of attention Nintendo is getting now since making this announcement is increasing the hype even more.

Nintendo is smart. Slash just doesn't understand it.

Yes I'm sure Nintendo's Direct will out hype E3 where there will be third party companies and both Sony and Microsoft talking about/revealing their new consoles.

Looking at the WiiU, nah Nintendo isn't smart hahaha

All nintendo has to do is drop info in the drought that typically comes after E3 and they will get a ridiculous amount of attention given that there won't be anything else going on.

"3DS is doing mighty fine, though". It's only gonna sell even more once Pokemon X and Y come out. The Wii U though... kinda pointless iff you ask me, doesn't seem like a new console so much as a flashy add-on for an already worn-out console.

This... sort of makes sense. Before the days of instant updates and live streaming Nintendo's E3 was just that - for the business side of things. Now with fans getting a better look into it there's a bit of a conflict of interest. Honestly, I applaud Nintendo for realising the problems with the E3 format and trying something different.

Though admittedly I am going to miss all the hype and experience of waking up at 1 or 2am to watch it and then being so excited about what they showed that I can't sleep afterwards.
