I just bought a ps3 last year and the ps4's already coming out this year? Sigh.....

Did you not expect to PS4 to come after 5+ years after the PS3 release? Plus the PS3 has a huge library of games now.

I get the disappointment but the PS3 is 8 going on 9 years old, the console is 3-4 years older than PS2 was when it was replaced by PS3, so this generation has already gone on longer than any in recent memory. It is a shame that the PS4 is out so soon after you bought a PS3, but that is unfortunately a risk you take by buying so late into a generation.
I live in a poor country so that's why only the rich people can get these expensive consoles and games to the point where jailbreaking and hacking became common. I waited until the ps3 price went down from 30,000PHPpesos to 8,000pesos which took 5 years to happen.

Well the PS4 can't play PS3 games. So it's not like you wasted your money.
So you still have a huge library of games to try out.

Well when the PS3 came out it was almost 6 years since the PS2 was out. I know the PS2 came out in 2000, but the PS3 came out in November 2006, so it is a similar trend to before.

The launch titles do look pretty good so far, a good bit of new IP which is great to see. A few more would be no harm, I'd say some might so up at E3.

..on the other hand, you can basically get to play a huge line-up of extremely good games, at the pace you'd like. Rather than sit and wait a year and a half between each (undersold) hit. (Shortlist: Heavy Rain, Heavenly Sword, inFamous, Killzone 2, MAG, Socom4, Pixeljunks (including 4am), WipeoutHD, Lair, Top Spin 4 (if you have a move, also The Fight), Yakuza 3, Katamari Forever, ICO HD collection, Sly collection, etc). And all of the multiplatform games you've missed can be bought cheap as well.

Besides, you're just in time to buy the next Tales.. games from Namco Bandai. Tales of Xilia coming out this summer. Following Tales of Graces last year.

But seriously, though - the target for the ps4 is multiplatform titles and 3rd party publishers. And we already know, for fact, that for example Blizzard will have a simultaneous release of Diablo 3 for the ps4 and the ps3 at the same time. This makes a lot of business-sense for them, and there's no doubt that this trend is going to continue for a very long time. Technically it is also eminently doable to port all of these games to a ps3 release in no worse condition than multiplatform games are ported currently.

In fact, we hear more and more from the "usual" "developers" (read: a studio's PR people) that since games will be made for PC with hardware scaling in mind, and then ported to consoles later (rather than what was common, that ps3 ports were ported from the xbox versions), that they will actually improve now, compared to before.

Ubisoft as well said that about their newer projects, that they will have ps3/xbox360/ps4 and PC versions simultaneously... And because of that, the multiplatform ports for the ps3 after the ps4 turns up will very likely be fairly good. As in certainly better looking and more playable than a game running on a minimum spec PC..

Just food for thought - like said, Ubi and Blizzard have already gone public, saying they don't see the business-sense in dropping the ps3, for economic reasons in terms of the existing market. And because of the small sum it takes to develop ports for the ps3...

Are also rumoured to be part of the launch line up, but Sony do have 12 first party studios all working on PS4 games. At the PS4 reveal they showed only 3 first party exclusives, they have another 9 at least possibly 10 to unveil so if a few more become launch titles as well then PS4 will have a pretty beast line up. You also have to remember that there are lots of third party studios that are waiting until Microsoft unveil their next-gen system before announcing games, so once more that launch line up could get even larger.

To be honest with you, anything has to be better than the gad awful PS3 launch title line up, it sucked badly.

Now with the PS4 coming out and the games that have been announced, one would assume the launch line up will floor the PS3's, especially if exclusives like inFamous: Second Sun and Killzone: Shadows Fall are released, because instantly that's two games that sets the PS4 off to a great start with just those two games alone.

I believe Final Fantasy Versus XIII will be part of that lineup, Which if thats the case I will suffer from a total "nerdgasm" like I did when they showed the game 7 YEARS AGO -____-
Hopefully at E3 they balance out talking about the hardware and also the games, and not pull a Nintendo where they show one or two good games and go on and on about how their console is going to revolutionize gaming. Which I will bet money with anyone that the world "Revolutionize" will be used by Sony or Microsoft....Hell probably both.

Infamous, Watchdogs and Killzone are strong titles for the lineup. Normally I don't expect much from launch titles, because they're usually pretty poor/average for any console, so I'm pretty happy with that.

Can't wait for iNFamous to come out. Killzone has always been a great series for Playstation. It would be nice to see more Uncharted and LittleBigPlanet too.

What did the PS2 launch lineup had? I don't remember it being interesting at all, I didn't get one 'til GTA VC came out. Was there GTA III on release? GT3 maybe?
Ditto for PS3, did it have anything? Again, I waited for GTA IV.
PSP and Vita were pretty solid - GTA LCS and Wipeout/Uncharted respectively. But to say it's going to be better than previous PS launches isn't saying much
