It has been some time since I visited my dwarf in The Lord of the Rings Online. He's still wandering the Mines of Moria, if I recall, but that doesn't mean that Turbine's Lord of the Rings MMO has been waiting for me to return. They've just announced their latest expansion, which will move from last year's Riders of Rohan on to Helm's Deep. Helm's Deep, as showcased in The Two Towers, will come to PCs this fall.
Ten levels will be added in the expansion, bringing the cap up to level 95 (surpassing World of Warcraft, haha) as well as adding areas for Edoras, Dunharrow and the fortress of the Hornburg. If the previously released content of The Lord of the Rings Online are any indication, Helm's Deep will provide an astounding look into the world of Middle Earth that will blow your mind.
I take every opportunity to say it, but my time in Lord of the Rings Online is by far my favorite experience in any of the dozens of MMOs that I've played. There isn't a better realized universe than that of Tolkien's Middle Earth and Turbine's the only company that could have brought it to life in such an amazing way. It's doesn't stray from the MMO norm, it just has that... heart. It's just true to The Lord of the Rings source material and that makes all the difference.
The Lord of the Rings Online's next expansion, Helm's Deep, will be released this fall exclusively on the PC. It's good to hear Turbine's still hard at work after their recent layoffs.
