I'd rather see the Warhammer fantasy setting get a proper go.

Go back to the more old school RTS, please. DoW2 was disappointing. It was like playing the trailer/intro level everytime. 40K is about "bigger, dude, everything bigger", so why scale it down.

It never made sense that a dozen Space Marines, cool and powerful as they are, were capable of taking down an Avatar of a War God.

I so badly want this to happen. Dawn of War 2 was, in my opinion, is one of the best RTS's to date.

Antipathy - 40k is not all about bigger. The fluff surrounding it often talks of smaller squads being dropped on a planet to sort problems out. It does have ridiculously cool massive scale war, but to say it's all about the massive is quite simply wrong.

I do sometimes miss the base building, and I remember when I first played DoW2 I was like "WTF?" but then I quickly came to realize it gave me more time to micro manage squads, use cover etc.

The small scale drops are precisely that; small scale drops, often with the intention of either proceeding an invasion, or the mission in itself, used by the authors to allow a story driven scenario, with proper characterization.

A small "stealth mission" type level would not be amiss, similar to the first DoW having thrown in, but really, the true fun of 40K happens when you're able to charge your hordes of Tyranids at the IG gunlines, while drop pods loaded with Space Marines fall out of the sky to target Hive Tyrants and Warrior Broods, or the Orks charge into the Tau battlesuits and fast moving grav tanks.

While DoW2 was a Skirmish, and was hardly "War" as 40K determines War, when you consider battles and "wars" like the Cadian Gate, Armageddon, Macragge, the Horus Heresy, etc. I'm not saying I expect millions of troops on screen, but if games like Total War can have at the least several thousand units on screen, it should be within reach to have the same done for 40K.

I know where you're coming from, it would be nice to have it scaled up, but I did really enjoy the smaller scale fights. I loved watching a squad of Tac's battle it out with a squad of Ork Shooters, the one liners they come out with is fantstic!

"The enemy wishes to engage us brothers, let us indulge them!" &

"Show me what passes for fury amongst your misbegotten kind!!!"

I must say I would love to see battles on the scale of Total War, and in fact I think we are going to get some ! I know Creative Assembly are meant to be working on a fantasy warhammer game similar to Total War, I'm personally more interested in the 40k stuff.
