Despite a tumultuous year off that oddly enough led to the game's release on consoles, Terraria is coming back. New plans for PC version 1.2 of Terraria have started to hit the web, though most details are still unconfirmed. That said, Terraria's new sprite artist Jimmarn went out of his way to drop two new images showing off the new ice biome, officially confirming an upcoming patch... and perhaps more.
Due to the nature of Terraria's development, which is to say involves heavy community involvement, a lot of details have already been discussed. However, this means a majority of these details are technically unofficial and may not actually make it to the game. That said, here's a short list of items confirmed via an assortment of images and chat logs taken over the past few weeks:
- Over 250 items added
- More than 20 vanity sets
- 10 new wings
- About 60 "aesthetic changes"
- New biomes, including snow/ice, potentially expanded desert and mushroom areas, and more
- Tons of new tiles
- Mounts, like unicorns
- ... tons more
When I say tons more, I mean it. The patch is confirmed to be much larger than 1.1, which was insanely big and changed Terraria completely. If you want to see a full list of unofficial features and items to be added to the game, check out this Google document that fans have put together. It's... impressive.
Terraria's 1.2 patch is tentatively planned for June, but against that's unofficial -- just a comment made from the lead developer to fans. Needless to say, the man's got plans for the game (including a sequel). For now though, let's get excited for Terraria just being back at all. Woo!
