The good news is that Nintendo confirmed they were working with Square Enix to publish a localized version of Bravely Default: Flying Fairy. The bad news is that the game won't be released until 2014. It's a game RPG fans have been craving since it was released in October last year, but it maybe be some time yet before it actually reaches our shores.
I've got to say first and foremost that it's great the game is being localized for North America at all. Never look a gift horse in the mouth, right? Still, I'm absolutely stunned that Square Enix decided it wasn't worth their effort to publish the game themselves, instead waiting for Nintendo to publish it on their own. Whether that's a sign of Square Enix's financial troubles or the lengths Nintendo is willing to go to keep activity up on the 3DS, who knows.
Nevertheless, it's great to see more RPGs, more Japanese localizations, more original IPs, more 3DS games, more games in general. When Bravely Default is finally released on 3DS, it will be glorious and I will revel in that moment.
Oh, and it looks like they may be dropping the "Flying Fairy" part of the title in favor of something simpler for western audiences.
