That ain't classy at all...

I'm just letting my distaste for COD and the current dominance of the FPS genre make me angrier at them than I should be.

It's a trademark. If they wanted it they could have filed it. They didn't. Someone else wanted it. They did file it. What's the problem?

Who cares why Respawn did it? Fact is, Blizzard didn't. Terrible journalism with lines like this:

the decision still rings suspiciously disrespectful.

Euophoric Hey. I'm always open to criticism, but I'm unclear on what you're particularly unhappy with. Do you disagree with the statement I made? That's understandable, as it's your prerogative. Still, I thought I represented my opinion well by providing insight into the buzz around Blizzard's project and its history with the codename.

Thanks for the feedback.

Starcraft 2 was codenamed "Medusa". Blizzard probably never intends to name that game "Titan".

bluexy I'm just super jaded with the state of journalism at the moment. The lines between news reporting and editorial seem to have been completely removed in many cases. Admittedly this isn't an extreme case, it has just come at a time when I'm very frustrated with mainstream media's handling of some major recent events.

News reporting, which is what this is, should be completely opinion free. Simply a statement of the facts. I get that this site does some lighter stuff, which I appreciate and enjoy. However, when reporting on facts, to strongly insinuate, to the point where you're basically reporting it as fact, that one company is doing the dirty on another (when you have no evidence) is wrong and unethical. That rubs me the wrong way.

I get where you're coming from. I get why you said it. I even agree that it is a distinct possibility. You should keep that separate from your reporting though.

Euphoric Completely understandable.

I do want to clarify our direction as a news outlet, however -- and trust me, we're far from mainstream. 90-99% of the news we put out on Neoseeker now is written by just two people, myself and Lydia (RabidChinaGirl). As a small team, we've come to certain conclusions about how we want to put out content and the limitations we face as a small team.

What we decided on, or rather what came naturally, was a mixture of community-focused reporting based around analysis, light opinion, humor and mature discourse. Generally speaking, we're writing from the perspective of community members for community members.

The hope is that... well, we've got a lot of goals and hopes. Mainly, we just hope people will take the time to get to know us and enjoy day-to-day gaming news with us. We're certainly professionals, but we're also just gamers. As such, there may be some opinion in our news, but we'll always make sure we're providing the facts so everyone who is reading can can make their own decisions about each issue.

Hope you'll give us a chance. As you likely can tell, I'm always willing to consider criticism or advice anyone's willing to offer.

bluexy Of course. To be honest the fact you can respond to what was initially a slightly over played stance with a reasoned head is enough for me to respect you as a person. I have issues with bias reporting, but as said I also enjoy the light stuff when it's clear that's what is being written. Realistically if I had a major issue I wouldn't be writing this, and I just wouldn't read news on here anymore. Which isn't the case. It was just a gripe getting pressed at the wrong time.
