Trademark filings have arisen for Titan, but they're not being registered by Blizzard who has been working on an MMO project of the same name, but by Respawn Entertainment. The banished chosen developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, spurned by Activision into the warm embrace of Electronic Arts, are working on a sci-fi FPS. Apparently, that new project is named Titan.
To be fair, Blizzard is only using Titan as a codename for their next MMO project (reportedly) and would probably have trademarked it long ago if they actually had any intention of using it as an official title. Still, there's no argument that Respawn knows Blizzard is using Titan as a codename considering the buzz around the name. Whether or not there was any intention on Respawn's behalf to steal Blizzard's thunder, the decision still rings suspiciously disrespectful.
Respawn has announced their plans to be at E3 this June, though we wouldn't be surprised if they've already revealed their game by then. Considering Microsoft's looming next-gen console announcement and the rumored Microsoft-EA partnership, don't be surprised if we see Titan by the end of May. Also, hopefully someone from Blizzard posts some salty Twitter emoticons.
