Ah, it's getting closer to E3 and that means plenty of pre-event marketing for video games. For Nintendo specifically, that means coming back from a two-month break to release an all new Nintendo Direct event. Airing on April 17 at 7AM PT/10AM ET, Nintendo says the event will be "featuring the Nintendo 3DS." Keep in mind that doesn't mean the Wii U won't make an appearance at all. Well, it could, so feel free to sigh.
The last Nintendo Direct event was run in February and focused on upcoming releases for February and March like Fire Emblem: Awakening and Lego City Undercover. I'd expect Nintendo will do the same here, focusing on soon-to-be-released titles for the period between April's Nintendo Direct and the next -- whether that be May or June.
Let's be clear, however, that Nintendo's next few months are absolutely barren in terms of big game releases. We've got Pandora's Tower for the Wii, Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins for 3DS next Sunday, and then... err, Animal Crossing: New Leaf on June 9! Hopefully Nintendo has a few more announcements to keep 3DS and Wii U owners happy for the summer "drought."
Wake up and watch the April Nintendo Direct event with me, I'll be covering it as usual. If everyone's interested in a live-blog for discussion, we can make that happen!
