No doubt a surprising number of people were looking forward to the retail release of Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition. Originally set for April 30, the retail version has been delayed by a couple months. Now, Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition is heading to stores June 4.
Why the delay? According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, Microsoft and Mojang want to make sure they've got all the content in the game before it hits retailers. No idea what content he's referring to, specifically, but our guess is they're trying to get in updates and patched contents -- as much as possible, anyway.
Major Nelson dropped the news this morning via Twitter:
FYI: In order to include the very latest content, the retail version for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition has been delayed until June 4 (US)— Larry Hryb (@majornelson) April 12, 2013
Hey, it's not like you can't already snag the game off Xbox LIVE, but anyone hoping to grab a boxed version is just going to have to sit tight until June. Sounds like it'll be a better game for it.
