When Batman: Arkham Origins was announced yesterday, the developers teased that Batman would be faced up against eight assassins on the streets of Gotham proper. The only assassin's face that was revealed though was Slade -- Deathstroke. That is if he's one of the eight assassins and not just some other assassin... I wonder what's requisite to one of the eight. Anyways, new screenshots have been released with new enemies. Are they part of the eight assassins too?
First off, we see Black Mask, who only had a brief appearance in Batman: Arkham City, but appears to have a much larger role in Arkham Origins. As is typical for most of Batman's main enemies in the Arkham games, Black Mask has his own gang adorned in their own personalized masks. We also get to see that Black Mask loves to torture dudes. Maybe we shouldn't have invited Black Mask, he is a frightening man.
The other enemy to make an appearance, though only in one screenshots nad not highlighted to the degree of Deathstroke or Black Mask, is The Penguin. At least, he looks like The Penguin, except for the absence of his monocle. No, this is most certainly Penguin, considering the soldier behind him is holding onto an umbrella. That's too big of a detail to be an accident.
Okay, because I felt a bit idiotic, I did some research into what's going on here. So Black Mask set a bounty on Batman's head and the Bats decides to go ask the Penguin why. Seems neither of these two are actually the assassins that Black Mask has hired -- just Deathstroke, from what I can tell. Hopefully we'll see some more of them soon. Also, who is the crazy dude on the crashed plane concept art?
Batman: Arkham Origins is planned for release on current gen consoles -- Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U and PC -- on October 25.
