It should be called "xBox" instead of Xbox, x being games, movies, tv, music, etc etc etc. A box that does x amount of things.

Everything rumoured about this console sounds terrible. You can't play it unless you have an internet connection, the price tag, it doesn't play Xbox 360 games... what the *bleep* Microsoft?

Yup. At this point they need to confirm/deny things just to do a little damage control.

The bad thing is that most things that get leaked nowadays ends up being true. =/

This is an excellent marketing scheme by Microsoft. They have given the perception of having this always on feature to get this massive talk about their new product. I bet it wont have it, then all the talk will be about how great Microsoft is for not including that feature, resulting in a lot of sales for them. Look at all the discussion it's made over the forums on the net. People are talking about it, and paying attention to it. Detail one fault it may have, then take that fault away and it seems as though the company cares and is providing a good product.

Great marketing
I'm honestly starting to wonder if this is the case. It makes sense (more sense than the system actually requiring connection to be used), but I think it could bite them in the ass if enough people realize that's what they're doing. Look at EA and the fake Dante's Inferno protests.

Then again, it will be kind of funny if they really do include the Always-On requirement. A decision so bad it spawned theories that it was just a marketing stunt.

It's $500 with the Kinect from what I read.
Also why are people honestly surprised at the price tag when the WiiU costs $350. DId you really expect the PS4 and Nextbox to have the same price as the WiiU? :/

The WiiU is also worse hardware-wise and is marketed toward children, it makes sense that it costs less. I just find it ridiculous how people are forced to fork over that large sum of cash, and then keep forking over cash as long as they want to keep playing. At least the WiiU isn't charging for online and shoving ads all over the user interface.

I'm looking at my dashboard right now. Where are these ads you speak of? Are you talking about the spotlight boxes that promote new games, current events and discounts? How are these annoying? You make it seem as if they're right up in my face or interfere with my gaming. Quite the opposite. But the majority of the time when I do notice them, its because its a game I'm interested in or the DLC I've been waiting for goes on sale.

These ads specifically, the spotlight boxes, in order to promote you need to advertise. They're annoying because I shouldn't be seeing advertisements on a system I have to pay money per-month to use. If anything I'd expect the PS3 to be covered in ads, but the strange thing is it's free, and I only see ads when I'm in the store. They do not interfere with gameplay, but I didn't say this. They're just advertisements targeting your interests. It would be like me buying a new computer and it having ads all over the desktop, that's not attractive!

Who the eff cares? The ads aren't getting in the way of you playing games or doing stuff.

They may eventually. If people don't care about advertising, companies will continue to push until someone makes a guff. That's how capitalism works.

You should be thanking people like Huntereb for being among those that limit how far advertisements can go. Imagine having to watch a 2 minute unskippable commercial each time you turn on the machine, or log into Xbox Live? That would be a reality if everyone had your attitude.

That picture looks outdated.

But you guys act like its full of toothpaste and soda commercials. They're just spotlights for games & content that you might be interested in. Whether or not you pay is irrelevent as it promotes content and not random *bleep*ing products. In no way do they interfere with gaming.

Straw man argument

That interferes with your gaming, some gaming ads on a dashboard doesn't.

One tile for a Windows phone. OMG I'm going to stop paying for XBL because I can't see the gameplay anymore!
