Meh,

Don't plan to even look at the new Xbox or PS4 until 2 years from now.

That is all.
This. Early adoption is usually a bad idea until the price comes down and they work out the bugs. PS3 and 360 is perfectly fine and will continue to be supported for several more years at least.
Yeah, and launch titles are usually pretty weak anyways.

Northern49 not sure if that comment is referring to me. That is true which is why I specified that profit margins also increase, I don't believe for even a second that Sony and MS pass on the entire discount to customers: just to the extent that they attain maximum profit/desired market share.

It is false to assume that removing features and downgrading hardware is done to reduce the cost to the consumer. For all anyone knows, the price has remained constant. The only difference is their own profit margins.

imo, advertisements shouldn't be forced onto your damn homescreen. allow some tile customization for pete's sake. this is 2013, if I can select what tiles I want and don't want on my damn Window's Phone then I should be able to select what damn tiles I want on the home screen of da Xbox. If for some god-forsaken reason someone wants to add an advertisement tile to their homescreen, then by all means let them. But giv us consumers the CHOICE.

I heard months ago, months and months, that all the nextgens would be 250-300, due to the crappy economy.

I hope this is true, i would say that 95% of the people who use these consoles cant afford to pay 500$ for one, and if that price is true, and the trend continues to the NEXT nextgen, we would be looking at 700$.

The line has to be drawn somewhere.
False, for the most part console pricing is determined by supply and demand and consideration of competitor offerings. The stuff that goes into the consoles is determined by the price that the market can bear.

Therefore on release Microsoft/Sony set the price at which they anticipate the highest revenue consisting of x units sold at price y. This is why you see console prices decrease over time as there is lesser demand but adequate supply (and also because the manufacturing process gets cheaper, increasing profit margins).

This price, given the current state of economies, will still be around 400-500 on release for even next gen. MS/Sony will only put in hardware that is equivalent or slightly higher than that cost (making up for deficits with software licenses/online services) to ensure they get a balance of market penetration and maximised revenue.

If the ads weren't there what would you rather have there just wondering?
good question. what would you guys fill the empty spaces with? or would you rather the home page just have the game disc tile, My Pins and whatever else is below those 2? that would be pretty empty.

When the WiiU is $350 you expect the next Xbox and PS4 to be $250 lol....;

I don't really see what the big deal is with the ads, I personally don't find them intruding it's not like there is something else I rather there. I think the dashboard is very well designed. If I want to play a game, I just mash A once I turn on my console until the game starts. But I also say they are very useful, I do like looking at the sales. Anything I can get cheaper is a plus.

If the ads weren't there what would you rather have there just wondering?

I would only complain about ads if they were intrusive, obstructing and just an overall annoyance. This is the new reality. This is the cost of improving technology in a worsening economy. Granted the technology as is will get cheaper over time. Same with games - They will get cheaper over time. But brand new, it will be expensive. It is not a monopoly also. If you can always opt for the PS4 assuming they will be less stingy for your taste or PC gaming which is usually not centrally controlled at all.

I lease an HD box for $10 a month for 24 months with an early cancellation fee, it costs $300 if I don't return it. I pay $60 a month (xbl is $40 a year, less than $4 a month) yet I still have to watch 10 minutes of commercials per 20 minutes of programming, and these ads interrupt me from my programming.
Exactly, its a lease, your essentially renting it for the duration of your service.the Xbox on the other hand is something you purchase. The cable/satellite companies also hold a monopoly something the video game industry does have. If enough people express their dissatisfaction on the matter Microsoft could very well change it but obviously not enough people have a problem with it, that doesn't mean those that do are wrong either. That has been my entire point, your the one claiming we're making a mountain out of a mole hill. All I have done was point out valid reasons for why people might not like these ads, while you've been either ignoring or picking through them and basing the validity of my argument based solely on the points you feel you can debunk.

You guys seem to have no idea how the real world works. I'm guessing from your comments ("my dad didn't pay this blah blah") you don't handle your own finances thus think XBL is a ripoff when it really isn't.
Now theres the pot calling the kettle black, I haven't said so much as a snide remark and yet looky here.
