2D fighter fans might be happy to learn that Arc System Works, the company behind Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, are actually interested in making something for the PlayStation 4. Not just a new installment of their existing franchises either, but an entirely new fighting series.
Word of this comes from BlazBlue series producer Toshimichi Mori, during his interview with Japanese publication Dengeki. The translation states that while Arc System Works doesn't have "a definite title" yet, the company "wants to release a fighting game." Here's the excerpt in English:
"We can’t give you a definite title yet, but we want to make one. We make fighting games, so we want to release a fighting game. We want to make a new title as a third axis along with BlazBlue and Guilty Gear. We actually made Guilty Gear targeting the Dreamcast, and we started creating BlazBlue around the time of the PS3 release, so we want to make a game for PS4 when the system releases. Creating new things at the turning point of time is who Arc System Works is, so we would like to take it on."
Given the company's track record, we wouldn't be at all surprised if they had something lined up for PlayStation 4 at launch, or a little bit after, at the very least. Time will tell.
