Even so, I was hoping 1313 might come out and actually succeed. Sad to see so many lose their jobs over this.
Pretty much my thoughts on this. I get that LucasArts hasn't exactly been successful these days, but 1313 looked promising, and the jobs lost over this is pretty rough.

I guess this means I can erase any hopes of a successful The Force Unleashed sequel... Haha.

Yeah, as much as it sucks for the staff I think we'll look back on this as a great move on Disney's part. It's not like this is the end of LucasArts (as if they'd invest 4 billion into something just to let it rot on the shelf?), just the end of a development team with a pretty poor recent track record.

Once again, cautiously optimistic.

a poor track record indeed...but a track record that would have improved with the release of 1313? no? you think fireing all of the staff is a great move? i tell you what fire all the people that make those call of duty games and get rid of a franchise that has NOT changed since 2005

Not as far as the staff is concerned obviously, but a sensible decision from a business standpoint. As disappointed as everyone is that 1313's abandoned, it would have been even worse if it'd been as hyped and as poor as TOR turned out to be - and recent evidence suggested that there was a reasonable chance of that. I'm willing to wait a while longer if it means that the next Star Wars game is actually worth buying.

Weren't they pretty far into the development of 1313? From what I've heard, a lot of people were really keen on it. I haven't really followed it though.
Yep, they were quite far into development. I've been following this since I heard about it, for this to happen, not to mention all the jobs that have been scrapped. It's absolute crap.

Just out of curiosity, where did you guys read this? 1313 was announced just last year, and the footage shown at E3 was not in-game footage so much as a tech demo giving us some idea of what the game would look like when finished. LucasArts didn't even have platforms to announce yet.

Are you sure you're not thinking of First Assault?

My appologies, I must of been thinking of First Assault. It thought the footage released at E3 was First Assault. So 1313 has a release date, without being affected by LucasArts being cancelled?

Well that bites ... I think it is safe to say now Lucas Arts should go back to the past and contact Actvision. If I remember correctly they were their publisher when Lucas Arts started out. So why branch out?
