Square Enix is now saying that in the Director's Cut, you can take down bosses without firing a single bullet.

What Lorx said. The boss fights aren't bad as traditional shooter boss fights, but this is a stealth game. You get rewards for not killing people and going around unnoticed, and boss fights just throw all those things away (as does the last level).

Why the boss fights received a lot of flak in a nutshell:


If you're playing it as a shooter, boss fights will be really easy, but any off-beat builds focusing on other mechanics kind of get the short straw. Which stood out a lot, because the level design for anything leading up to boss fights was very good at allowing multiple kinds of approaches and builds. I guess it's not so much a problem of the boss fights being bad so much as it's a problem that they don't fit the game.

daved Common complaint is that they're broken, for a number of reasons. You'll find videos of players completely cheesing bosses, while others who spec'd Adam differently (stealth, for instance) are boned.

Good question! I loved the boss fights and thought they were pretty intense. I have heard that players who had a more hacking / stealth oriented Adam complained that they were too hard. I know that the typhoon came in really handy when fighting the first boss, but it's still possible to beat him with other strategies.
