While news on Poker Night at the Inventory 2 broke a few days ago when screenshots were leaked of the game during its "Key Party" countdown event, Telltale Games made it official today. Introducing an all new cast of poker players who are looking to pass the time with you while hanging out at the Inventory. Poker Night at the Inventory 2 is set for a late April release on PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (downloadable), with other platforms, "to be announced."
The new cast includes Brock from Venture Bros., Ash from Evil Dead and Army of Darkness, Sam from Sam and Max, and Claptrap from Borderlands 2. In addition, Glados from Portal 2 will be the "dealer" of the game, though we suspect she's up to something nefarious. Unfortunately there's no mention of the original cast of Poker Night, so wave goodbye to Heavy Weapons guy, Strong Bad, Tycho and Max. Well, Max does make an appearance on the game's website. There's hope yet!
Telltale Games' CEO Dave Conners offered the following thoughts on the game's announcement:
"It's great to revisit our roots after the success of The Walking Dead. People might not know that we have a strong history of humor in our games and players are going to find a lot of laughs in Poker Night 2. Poker Night 2 is another example of our ability to work with phenomenal partners and bring great characters to life in the gaming universe."
I burned through most of the dialogue, winning all of the unlockable TF2 items along the way, in only a few hours with the original Poker Night. Hopefully Poker Night at the Inventory 2 steps up the experience and gets people talking about poker games... err, and jokes too, or whatever. Poker Night at the Inventory 2 will be coming to PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 in late April.
