Lets kick this big dumb April Fool's Day off right with this great release from Riot Games. The creators of League of Legends have released Cho'Gath Eats the World, or CHEW for short. The game features League of Legends champion Cho'Gath in the lead role of a RAMPAGE style arcade game where he climb and destroy buildings across the world, eating minions and all sorts of stuff along the way. It's free, it plays in your browser, and it's got tons of LoL references (link).
According to the official Riot announcement, CHEW is currently only in open beta, so expect a few bugs and errors to pop up. Here's the game's summary straight from those devious folk at Riot:
"Our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to craft a fully immersive game world filled with interactive environments and populated by characters you’ll recognize in situations you never expected. CHEW stands on the shoulders of a new engine designed to tell a rich, conflicted story, and delivers a single-player experience filled with hundreds of NPCs, dozens of deadly encounters and enormous cities to explore. Instantly accessible as an Open Beta download, CHEW brings a new dimension to your gameplay."
Yes, Riot registered about half a dozen domains for CHEW. Yes, Riot likely also trademarked the game's title. It's all in the name of fun and games and also it's no fun getting sued over an April Fool's joke.
I've only beat the first level of CHEW and it's a cute, fun experience that's both goofy and also educational for League of Legends noobs. For instance, Cho'Gath regains health when last-hitting minions. I'd imagine the game only gets wilder from there, and I've heard rumor that Super Teemo makes an appearance in the game. Better eat him.
Check out CHEW and League of Legends today, both completely free and ridiculously fun. Hooray for April Fool's Day!
