Good news, Halo 4 fans. Today marks the early release of "Forge Island," further expanding the game's Forge Mode options. Seems the map passed certification a lot sooner than originally anticipated, putting it weeks ahead of schedule.
Originally revealed at PAX East and slated for release on April 11, Forge Island consists of three very plain-looking islands called the "Great Anvils." Not very exciting at first glance, but as its name implies, this map is meant for Forge Mode, giving players a new playground to customize. The three Anvils are modifiable areas that offer up a good chunk of acreage for creators to mess with. Now just imagine the kind of maps the community will dream up using this setting...
The best part of all this might be the price: there isn't one. Forge Island can be redeemed for free from the Halo 4 in-game store or via Xbox LIVE, requiring 150MB of storage.
Microsoft also decided they needed to remind prospective players that the DLC requires the full Halo 4 game. Just in case anyone wasn't aware, I guess?
