Agreed, Exile. There was a lot of "Oh look, it's that guy from the history book" without ever giving them interesting characterization. Washington appears sporadically, but is never shown struggling with the burdens of command, or any qualms about fighting his former brothers in arms. He is just every inch the doubtless, questionless hero shown in American history books with no color or characterization. Ben Franklin, likewise just shows up, loses his almanac pages, and totters off, never really showcasing one of the brilliant minds of the time. I hope that Black Flag gives its characters their due.

I just hope that they don't rush games to the point where it exacerbates the issues seen in AC3. A very weak plot with historical excitement used to try to cover it up. The lack of non-main missions. The lack of big towns to explore and enjoy. Even though 3 wasn't rushed it felt like it was and that it tried to cover up it's deficiencies by adding the founding fathers. I feel like Black Flag will use ship battles to try to cover up this game issues. Add a little more detail like the first games and go back to the story, and come up with a few new fun things and it will be great.

The one possible saving grace is that is sounds like there are two different Ubisoft teams working on AC, so that each game has a two year cycle with the teams trading off release years, much in the same vein as how Activision does Call of Duty. I do not think that we should be taking cues from Call of Duty in a game like Assassins Creed though.

Quality > Quantity ?_?
Yes, I'd prefer the most amount of time spent on the game, making sure that the gam is as good as it can possibly be. An Annual release will see the game go downhill.

As long as they turn out quality games with good stories I don't mind, I suppose. I don't like that their attitude is clearly that they can make money. While I realize that they are a business out to make money, they could at least pretend that quality is important to them. I actually thought there was a considerable quality drop from ACII to Brotherhood, and then another drop into Revelations. ACIII was just such a disappointment though. Boring character, boring missions. The only fun part was the naval missions which were sorely underused. That said, I am looking forward to AC4 as it appears to have more naval stuff and great potential for a great character.

Glad to know Ubisoft's goal is to have sales success with mediocre games.

Personally, I haven't been completely in love with an Assassin's Creed game since AC:II. Brotherhood was good, I've nearly forgotten about Revelations, and I'll only play AC:III again if I feel like sending an arrow through someone's skull (but Tomb Raider has me covered there, so maybe not). I'm hoping I'll love Black Flag, it's looking good so far and Benjamin Hornigold (aka best pirate to ever exist) has been confirmed as a character. However, AC:III was extremely hyped up and the game itself was mediocre. The core of the games is always going to be Assassins vs. Templars - and no matter how different the plots are, it gets boring. We get it, the Templars are bad and we have to go and kill them. Why not a game set in Eden? Or are we just going to forget about that unlockable video in Brotherhood? Shouldn't they be attempting to obtain first-hand knowledge of the gods, with Juno released?

Take a few years off, Assassin's Creed. Your core story line is too repetitive to be chucking a game out annually.

Every one in the comments are giving assassins creed crap because the annual release but what no one realizes that they have been working on black flag since like 2011 and they were working on #3 since 2010 they probably are already working asssassins creed 6

People know, even with the development time of 3 it still sucked which is why people are able to realize that the series is going downhill. Fast.

I think DedValve meant about the quality of the series, and really just in it for money.

Another franchise to die by franchise fatigue. Oh and it had such potential too.

I think this series is going to die off even before it gets to the climax.
Seriously Ubisoft, Why?
Thought AC3 was meant to be the big climax we were all looking for? As long as Ubisoft keep selling millions of copies each year, they'll keep dropping cliff hangers and not need to reach a definitive 'climax'
