a game will never look this good...thats what they do...they hype this engine up and when a game comes out that uses it it doesnt look half like this
I have my doubts as well that it would look this good when I start playing it.

This is the most open I've seen a tech demo in a while which gives off the impression to me at least that this isn't just tech demo trickery. Yes the camera's are locked and the movement is scripted, but it pans out on several occasions to show that everything in being rendered and not just what they want you to see, this is a fleshed out environment.

I think this is definitely more game ready than most tech demos and the fact it was running on a single GTX 680 also makes it different than more tech demos. I recall the Unreal Engine 3 'Samaritan' demo that was running on a system with like 3 GTX 580's. This is running on one card and not even nVidia's most powerful card, this could be closer to reality than many believe but I can understand the skepticism as tech demo's of old were fancy lies.

Don't get me wrong it looks very shiny with lots of detail... but the style, mood and overall colour just seems really boring to look at (and that's not me hating on the engine). Games are looking all too similar lately, with generic dark looking city scapes with lots of machinery, conveyor belts and flying cars. Throw in a character with a helmet and gnarly looking armour and we have a highly unoriginal concept, at least visually. It's only a tech demo, I get that, but the latest batch of next-gen footage looks remarkably dull and generic.

all of this was apparently on a single gtx 680.

still, cinematics are generally less intensive than actual gameplay, so thats still something to see.

looks great though, but some of the textures arent the greatest as well. hopefully the ps4 can do the bulk of this demo so next gen games can feel like this, with the PC versions hopefully getting high res textures.

i want fallout4 to look this good - id go full retard on my next compy upgrade.

Shadow of Death All in-engine. Probably on a super computer, but nonetheless.

Wonder if that's pre-rendered footage or not?

It's not THAT impressive looking unless it was running in-engine rather than just as CG.
