Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain is officially a thing, combining the rumored Phantom Pain with Ground Zeroes to make one game. Crafty Kojima. Anyway, in addition to the debut gameplay, this morning's Konami conference at GDC also saw one hell of a trailer for Metal Gear Solid V. Flaming animals are popping up left and right, and... Right, flaming animals.
At one point, a massive flaming whale (Moby Dick seems to be a thing here) breaches through the air to engulf a helicopter. Then a flying unicorn tears through the darkness with a horn and wings of fire. Nothing weird happening here.
Best I can guess is all of this being visions in Snake's drug-induced delirium. The beginning of the trailer shows the guy in pretty bad shape, ultimately leading up to the hospital sequence shown during the same GDC event, where Snake meets Ishmael and gets to crawl around in an on-rails sneak segment.
Look down, now look up. (Possibly)Ocelot's on a horse.
That music you just heard is "Not Your Kind of People" by Garbage, from their 2012 album.
The end of the video confirms that the title will be headed to both Xbox 360 and PS3, though whether next-gen platforms will be included remains to be seen. A female voice finishes everything off with these words: "V has come to."
