If you're an unfortunate soul who has yet to hear about Guacamelee, I have no pity for you. It means more Guacamelee for me, I think, and the more Guacamelee for me, the better. Yet after my preview opportunity with Drinkbox, the Guacamelee cravings have been steadily growing inside of me -- seriously, I self-medicate with tequila. Luckily, Sony's approved the product for release, Guacamelee will officially be available to download on April 9.
Also, for you PlayStation 3 fanatics, it was confirmed today that Guacamelee would have a Platinum trophy. $14.99 for cross-play PlayStation 3 and Vita versions of a robust Metroidvanaia style action game with a ton of suped-up abilities with unlockable higher difficulty? Whatever! Hook a gamer up with that platinum trophy! I need it like I need puzzle pieces in Banjo Kazooie.
It has been a long couple of years for the folk at Drinkbox, but it's awesome to hear Guacamelee will soon be available for everyone to play. I was able to experience the game first hand and it's lining up to be something special. Check out Guacamelee's official launch trailer, along with the announcement trailer from a couple of years ago to see just how far the game has come.
