Why does every game need DLC nowadays?
I miss the old days where you bought the game once, and got everything.

i dont mind dlc, i just dont see why everyone gets up in arms over it, buy the dlc if you want or dont, dlc is just something that is not going to go away ever, personally i dont buy dlc for a game unless i really enjoy it,and i dont mind spending the extra money,i've done it at a friends house on her ps3.

and man now i have to go thru ac 2, brotherhood, revelations, and 3, before this releases, enjoyed the trailer looks fun to play. any word on who will be in the animus this time?

http://www.fanboys-online.com/index.php?id=425 This sums up my thoughts on DLC

Know what I find interesting? Most of today's "Microtransaction DLC" is what we used to call "Unlockables" that you'd get from, y'know, playing the game kind of good. Or mindlessly grinding a challenge until you get that sense of satisfaction and yelled, *bleep* yeah! But no, we've gone towards consumers arguing that "They're here to make money off of us, it doesn't affect you so don't bitch" But it does affect me when they don't put in the full story and lock it behind shitty DLC. I just circumvent it and read the wiki when it comes out. You also can't argue the "Expansion pack" argument either because it's very rarely worth the name, let alone the price tag. But, as always, that's just my opinion. Poorly formed though it may be.

It's too bad the game was only announced last month and they are already announcing DLC. It's as if developers forgot the real reason DLC was made: to expand on the game after the game is made.

Comic is dead accurate.

I like the pros of DLC, as in giving a game more replayability, stretching its lifespan, and so on. And of course, that excludes freaking launch DLC. New Vegas, Skyrim, and Mass Effect 2 are excellent examples.

Heck, I'll even let map and content packs slide as long as they offer substantial additions and come AFTER a game has already been released.

It's upsetting people because we are paying more for less. We used to be able to pay $50 USD for an entire game but now content is intentionally left out to be sold later as dlc and it's this type of thinking that allows publishers to keep pushing forward and forward. This is the same company that removed 2 incredibly important DLC segments of ACII and the ending of Revelations just to suck people from their money. It's a disgusting business practice and NO ONE should buy this dlc out of principle alone. Or else we'll literally start seeing expansions as full priced titles bei

Oh goddamnit.

Woosh.

That being said, North Americans can probably expect at least one of these versions to be made into our regional Collector's Edition.
...
We're guessing it's the UK equivalent of North America's GameStop Edition, since Ubi did mention GAME. So the GameStop/GAME Edition entails the "Black Island Pack," a DLC bundle with...

Slightly un-related(Due to it being AC3 in nature) but I feel they should just create a whole new IP, lets be honest. If AC3 had been a story about the American revolution through the eyes of a Native trying to protect his home, it would be judged under the light it deserves-rather than having Grandaddy Altair and Papa Ezio glaring at him for simply NOT being an Assassin. I'm getting a very similar vibe from this one. Granted it sounds cool when you say "Pirate trained by (*#*ING NINJA ASSASSINS but realistically, how can anyone defend this as being, well, a game about the Creed and Killing people? But then again, we're all so afraid of new IP's, (Dev's Pubs and US the Consumers are all equally to blame in that.respect.) but would it really be so wrong to just turn around and say "No, this isn't an Assassins Creed Game, we're just using it as an excuse because Pirates!" instead of "Well, we think it has merit to tie the game into the previous mythos created by the AC games..." I'm also more than a little vexed at the ending to AC3...Just, ugh. I can't believe I'm saying this, but haven't we had enough Assassin's Creed? Isn't it time to just...let it go for a little bit? Maybe rethink the Formula?
