Shigeo Komori, Director of Etrian Odyssey III (but not of the recently released Etrian Odyssey IV) took to Twitter today to tease the upcoming announcement of his next project. Said to be fully revealed in the April 11 issue of Famitsu, which releases on Thursday, Komori appears ready to announce Etrian Odyssey V.
Here's a translation of Komori's full message on Twitter, translated according to All Games Beta:
[Mr. Komori] Good evening everyone. It's been three years since EOIII. The next game that I have been working with as director is nearing its completion.
We have aimed to make a new EO, with many experiments, so I will be glad if not only EO fans, but also those who have not been in the past, will take a look at the announcement on the 28th!
Refreshing to hear that not only has this Etrian Odyssey been in development for years (the last one only came out in Japan 9 months ago), but that it's taking some risks, experimenting with the formula. My time with Etrian Odyssey recently has been filled with wonder over why the series hasn't worked harder at creating a more modern experience.
Look forward to more information on what's likely to be Etrian Odyssey V, which we assume is for 3DS... but could be for another platform, we suppose. New will break this Thursday.
