So this was the free gift that EA promised to everyone who bought SimCity? Well I'll be damned this is actually a good gift!

Best thing to happen to that sorry excuse for a company.
edit:
HA, "Our game quality was down, and our costs were high. I could see a fundamental digital transformation coming to our industry that we were not even prepared for. The hardest part was that we were in deep denial." That was your own fault. Dear god. EA were a perfectly respectable publisher till he took over. They have spewed out worse games each year since 2007.

Er, 6yrs is a pretty long period of denial there, especially when your running a company. How long exactly does it take to realize your expenses are too high but your product quality is crap (hint, profit does not equal quality)?

Normally I'd be more sympathetic but in this case I just can't.

People think this is good. And yet no one thought about what happens if they get someone worse.

I see this as hopeful but I'm not celebrating.

Indeed, too early to celebrate. Replacement could easily be just as bad.

And if they get someone worse? EA won't be around much longer. EA has a lot of recognition as an evil company.

Someone made a comment on Reddit that made me laugh.

Resignation unable to be accepted. Servers down. Please try resiging again in 20 minutes.
However, from what people say, Riccitiello was actually a pretty nice guy, even if his business model turned EA into the worst company in America.

It was already speculated months ago that he might resign, and I guess the SimCity disaster was the last straw for investors, and want him out.

If you think EA wont change you're probably just being cynical. EA started out as an awsome company, and people respected them at one point. Just seems that recently with their particular greedy business model that doesn't favor the consumer, as well as other things have turned them into something the public loves to hate.

I'm looking forward to new management, hopefully they shake the company up and get rid of a lot of these draconian practices and return EA to its former glory.

Does this mean EA will be less shit? I'll search the sky for flying pigs when that happens.
