I'm patient enough to buy the game in the store on release day, don't understand these new thingamagically stuff anyway, so I rather do it the old way.

Sadly, this happens with pretty much any major upcoming release these days. The scammers immediately set up hundreds of sites usually redirecting people to endless surveys which they gain money from, almost always including a component that requires people to "like" it on FB to spread further.

This trick is as old as the hills and I'd have thought people would be wise enough not to sit there filling out large numbers of surveys by now. Guess it's still worth their while though. Don't fall for it. indeed.

I guess most people dont understand that you cant download a file (in this case, the gta beta) and put it into your console and play it. Surely that already sounds as dodgy as it gets??

Very true, for the most part people will fall apon helpful articles like this and won't fall for this moronic scam, but sadly there will be a lot of people sucked into it.

What if Rockstar is tearing them all down... because one of them turned out to be real.

Why can't people just wait until the game is released. I'd rather just wait for the finished version that play some beta version first, because then when the finished product comes out it will just seem so much better.

LMAO This is funny, and I am guessing you probably meant it that way.

For anyone thinking there is a serious point here, remember that Rockstar is a big enough company that they have different departments, which include, among others, a development team and a legal department. Hahahaha So I promise you that the many, many fine men and women who are tasked with developing the game are NOT abandoning their posts and running from their dev PCs into the legal trenches to join the war while, wringing their hands and going after the scammers. The legal department is.
