FEZ's console exclusivity ends on May 1 via Steam, be there or be forever stuck in 2D
It's finally happening!
Ah, bless the world, Fez is finally coming to PC. Today Polytron announced the PC release date for their (his) darling indie title Fez, landing on Steam May 1. The release date fits what we would expect to be a one year exclusivity deal with Microsoft on the Xbox 360, along with a small wait period for licensing and marketing issues. No price has yet been announced, but we'd expect it to land between $10-20.
Just a month and a half until PC gamers finally get to try out what may be 2012's indie game of the year, as in the Bastion, Super Meat Boy, or Braid of 2012. What starts out as a 2D platform, turns into wild 3D world, and becomes something so much more should blow so many minds as to create a new discussion in the gaming community that dwarfs the game's launch on 360. I blame the internet.
In all seriousness, Fez is absolutely brilliant and it's great to see the indie game is about to reach a broader audience. Not to say the Xbox 360 audience didn't give it the respect it, in all fairness, absolutely deserved, but I think the PC crowd is more conducive to the type of viral conversation Fez is trying to create. Money talks, however, so you can hardly blame Fish for signing exclusivity on console. May 1 things change. Put it on your calendar!
