LEGO City: Undercover, the mashup of LEGO and Grand Theft Auto that sees players take on the role of undercover cop Chase McCain, is set to arrive on March 18 exclusively for the Wii U. Gamers can pick it up on disc or grab it from Nintendo's eShop to get right into the open world action. However, there's a slight problem with the downloadable version, and that's the fact it requires an external hard drive to store it all.
Now, the Wii U has two models available: Basic and Deluxe. The Basic model only has 8GB of internal storage while the Deluxe features 32GB. When you factor in formatting and system software, the Basic drops down to 3GB and the Deluxe to 25GB. Nintendo hasn't revealed the exact size of LEGO City: Undercover, but considering the external hard drive requirement, it's likely more than 3GB. Also unknown is whether Deluxe owners require an external hard drive, too, since some Wii U games can be over 10GB in size.
Hopefully Nintendo clarifies things before Tuesday so Wii U owners can be prepared for the download. Luckily the Wii U supports up to 2TB of external storage provided it has a dedicated power source, so there shouldn't be any issues with finding a spare drive.
