I've been wondering when we'd finally get something new.

I'm trying so hard to stay away from anything related to the next MGS game(s), but I don't know if I can. I just keep thinking back to MGS4 and how much more that game would've blown my mind if I hadn't known anything beforehand.

EDIT:

Oh, and as for:

quote
Brilliant marketing campaign or typical Kojima
These are always synonymous. Kojima is a brilliant marketing campaign.

Sick of this type of bullshit. Konami's a one-trick pony that can't even get it's other franchises off the ground. Contra's dead in the water and Castlevania has turned into a very weird and, albeit nice looking, an un-necessary reboot that has strayed wildly from the base design. Demon's Souls did it so much better.

MGS4 was such a mess with its story, as if it was pieces together from the ramblings of a sixty year old reclusive conspiracy theorist, that the series itself took a hit. Worse still that Kojima fell more in love with the Big Boss character and tried to turn him into a hero instead of the villain he's supposed to be, while messing with the Solid Snake character to the point of embarrassment (you cannot watch old-guy-fight and not shake your head in disappointment unless you're high and laughing too hard).

No secret its MGS5. They've got nothing left but Metal Gear and don't have much a choice but to secure a foothold as the new console(s) approach, with Ubisoft claiming an October 29th release of AC Black Flag as a simultaneous release on all next gen platforms. Konami planned ahead and spent a pretty penny on R&D a while ago and is ready to crap out content and take advantage of the hype behind new consoles. So enough of the stupid marketing crap. They need to be up front with what's happening with the projects so fan backlash can keep it, hopefully, from turning into another "I don't even" MGS4. Kojima's narrative isn't as intelligent as he wishes it was.

I would not be surprised one bit if this time around you're playing as a clone of Liquid who has amnesia and is missing his right arm after being recovered while drinking his juice in the hood because nobody got time for that.Oh, and his new hand will have the nasty habit of grabbing people's crotches for awkward cutscene moments, just because that's somehow intelligent writing. Feel the plus!

The decision to reboot was because a new developer was developing Lords Of Shadow and wanted it to be inviting towards people who have never played a Castlevania game because the canon at the time was that jam packed with characters and stories that I doubt they could've done much for without it being any more convoluted. I mean, maybe if it was a prequel to the whole franchise, I guess it'd make some sense?

eh I thought it was a great game.

Nice rant there, negative Nancy much? I think the main problem with MGS4 was it seems like Kojima was trying to tie all the loose ends together as coherently as possible. After all didn't he say at one point that he didn't even want to do a 4th game?

I do agree on how ridiculous the story surrounding Liquid Ocelot and making Solid Snake old. I get the idea of it but they could have had him start out a bit younger and showed him aging rapidly until the end if they absolutely had to have old snake. The game felt a little too much like COD too, otherwise I liked the idea of sneaking through a war zone.

Looking forward to hearing more about Phantom Pain.

Interview is up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c_dtZm7KwT0

No new details, thought actor Joakim Mogren dude does say all of the secrets of the game will be revealed at GDC, along with a brand new trailer. Also, game is running on Fox Engine.

Castlevania is like every other reboot ever. Completely trading in old fans to be as bland and unoriginal as it can be to get a bunch of new fans that will never appreciate it the same way the old fans would have. I've yet to find a reboot (both story and game play wise which includes resident evil and th4if) that has not done this. That's my say on god of vania.

As for the topic, isn't that kojimas translator?

Yeah, it kind of happens every time I play MGS4, which I just did after forgetting it was updated with trophy support. Made myself remember why I only played through it once.

This SO much, Castlevania did not had any need of a reboot, for *bleep*s sake they had several GBC games begging to be led onto cannon (the Sonia Belmont one nameley) that would have sold SO much, instead we got some weird mashup of prince of persia with god of war, thank god i have a PS2 and i can play Curse of Darkness and Lament of innocense and not some some weird reboot (i played a bit, saw stuff over YT got bored), i'd loved for some remakes of the GBC era outside the one of soleiyu belmont

Has there ever actually been a GOOD reboot, cause I sure can't think of any. Reboots wouldn't be so bad if every company didn't feel the need to completely scrap everything the franchise had going for it. Has it ever occurred to them that the reason franchises like Mario or Sonic that have been around for decades are still around is because they stick to the core gameplay no matter how much they change?

The story being too alienating is a bunch of bull, most people that start in the middle of a series usually go seek out the other games and piece together the story. My first Castlevania was Symphony of the Night and I had no trouble enjoying it despite my minimal knowledge of the back story. And companies like Capcom wonder why their fans get so pissed.

Excluding those related to Mega Man? No. There aren't any as far as I know.
