When Megaman Online was first announced many fans rolled their eyes, wondering if such a thing would every truly be made let alone ported overseas. Their prediction has been affirmed as Korean developer NeoWiz has confirmed a variety of rumors in recent months that the project has been scrapped. Officially, Rockman Online died last November after NeoWiz talked with Capcom.
The news comes from Korean site Ruliweb who talked with NeoWiz just recently. While we can't verify the translation ourselves, it's no stretch to understand Megaman Online has been six feet under for some time now.
While the idea of playing Megaman online with friends online, battling robots together and and revisiting all of our favorite Megaman locations and characters, perhaps the scope was just a bit too far out of reach for the humble design of the Rockman franchise. That didn't stop a lot of people from being excited about the possibilities, however. It just proves that fans want more Megaman and they want it now -- okay, Capcom?
For now, the community will simply have to wait. So long, Megman Online. You didn't even leave us a power-up after your downfall.
