Remember that Star Wars: First Assault game we mentioned earlier this week? You know, the one that could very well lead to Star Wars: Battlefront 3 being released after lord knows how long. Yeah, we were pretty excited too, but it sounds like First Assault may never see the light of day. Even so, here are a couple of leaked trailers just to make you sad.
Both videos were meant for internal use, and the footage seen is taken from an older version of the game back in October or November 2012. Basically, this isn't what the final product would've looked like -- not exactly, anyway. Speaking to Kotaku, an anonymous source clarified:
"The trailer contains all in-game footage, including known bugs and incomplete art. In the time since it was made, many improvements have been made in performance, completeness, and quality."
First, a pre-rendered introduction to what would have been a full trailer. It's brief, and shows a Stormtrooper putting on his helmet from a first-person perspective.
The second is actual gameplay footage, and it looks pretty damn good. Here, we can see the game both in first- and third-person, though there's no way to tell whether the latter is native to the game or a clip developed just for the trailer; First Assault is supposed to be an FPS.
Right now, LucasArts is unwilling to discuss First Assault at all, and it's entirely likely that the shooter will never be released. We're never opposed to keeping our fingers crossed anyway, especially since the game was allegedly almost finished before it fell off the face of the planet.
