Yesterday came news that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could have multiplayer, as CD Projekt RED is "thinking about" adding it in. While that would need to be in such a way as to make sense (like co-op), the other title in development at CDP actually does have multiplayer. In a recent interview, managing director Adam Badowski confirmed that Cyberpunk 2077 includes multiplayer, though exact specifics weren't mentioned.
It will be a story-based RPG experience with amazing single-player playthroughs, but we're going to add multiplayer features.
Multiplayer in Cyberpunk 2077 makes a lot of sense, especially because there isn't a pre-defined hero like Geralt in The Witcher. There are different character classes to choose from in the single-player game as well, which would translate just fine into multiplayer. Badowski didn't elaborate on what multiplayer features are being added to Cyberpunk, so it's anyone's guess as to what those are going to be like. A party-based grouping would be interesting to mimic the tabletop version, but really the possibilites are endless.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world RPG like The Witcher 3, but isn't expected to arrive on PCs and next-gen systems until after the latter game does in 2014. In fact, CD Projekt RED is still looking to expand its staff for Cyberpunk and released the CGI trailer so far in advance in order to attract talent. So, if you feel you have the skills, why not head over to the CD Projekt website and browse the listings.
